Choosing a demon

The pupils who passed the test just entered the room where the demons are held captive.
The pupils are fascinated, scared or even both.
Most of the demons are just walking around in this room as if they were normal humans.
Only some of them are in their own cages.

These are the demons which are currently available.
Don't worry, they can't hurt you.
There's an invisible wall in the middle of the room, so they can't get close to us.
Just keep a look at all of them and pick one you like.
Be sure to choose one who looks as if it might like you, too. This makes it more likely that they will listen to you.
As you know, they might get dangerous if you don't treat them well.
You will be responsible for them yourself. There aren't any safety measures.
If a demon is out of control, everybody is allowed to do what's necessary to keep us safe.

Most of the pupils are kind of bored.
They already heard most of that dozens of times.
But some also realize how serious this will soon be to them.

They watch the different demons.
Most of them just look like real humans.
But they usually still look pretty weird.
They often don't wear normal clothes, not even all of them don't wear any clothes at all.

Some have small body extensions, others have permanent magic effects surrounding them, and others aren't even able to remain manifested in their human body.

So the pupils are looking at the demons.

Roya is standing close to Moyu and Ryuka when she suddenly points at one.

Oh, that's a cute one, can I have him?

He looks like a young boy.

Good choice, he really is cute.

What!?! But he's completely naked...

That's part of the fun, isn't it?

Ryuka is pretty annoyed again.

Hey, teacher! I'll take this one.

Good choice. He's a pretty strong one.
If you are sure, go to the supervisors over there and tell them about your choice.
Then they will take your demon and prepare it for you.

Roya leaves them and goes to one of the supervisors.

That girl has taste.
I'd really like to have a roommate like her.

But... we've been friends since childhood.

Hey, you know I'm not serious about that.
You should know me by now.

Yeah...

As I remember it, you didn't even really like me for most of the time since we got to know each other.

Yeah, but that's still the case...

So did you already find one you like?

No. I want to take my time to choose one.
It's a choice which affects your whole life after all.

Ryuka looks around and notices a girl.

Oh, this one looks pretty smart.
She just looks like a normal person.
She even wears proper clothes.
If she could even talk properly...?

Yeah, she's very tidy. Just like you. She might be your clone.

Ryuka isn't sure if she should take this as a compliment or an insult.
But Moyu probably didn't think much about her comment anyway.

Soon Roya comes back to them.

Hey, I really chose my demon now.
Such a cute demon will be mine soon.
I still can't believe it.

Yeah, really great choice!
You can be happy.

So did I miss anything?

Not really. Only Ryuka chose her demon. This one.

Moyu points at the girl.

Hey, I still didn't commit to anything.
It's just a first good impression, nothing more.

Ryuka gets close to the invisible wall.

Hey, you! Can you talk?

The girl immideately rushes toward the wall, too.

Yeah, of course I can talk!
I don't even know why I'm here. They must have mistaken me for a demon.
I'm just a normal magician.
I'm still in full control of my powers.

Oh cool, she can really talk!

You also didn't listen, did you?
Nobody listens to what I'm even saying...

Yeah, I'll just take her!

Ryuka immediately goes to a supervisor next.

Is she really a demon?

Don't you know that demons can be tricky sometimes?

Oh yeah, I forgot...
How could I forget such basic stuff like that...?
I wonder how I was able pass the test.

Moyu laughs.

Same.

At least you seem to be smarter than me.

If you say so...

Moyu looks at that girl again.

To be honest, I think, that girl is really just a powerful magician.
But I guess there's nothing we can do about that.

Yeah, probably...

They keep watching the demons.

So did you already see one you want?

Me?

Yeah, you. Moyu, right?

Yeah.

I'm Roya.

Oh, that's your name! Now I remember!

So?

Uhm... that man over there is really ugly, huh?

Moyu has to giggle.

Kind of...

I'll just take him!

Are you sure? He looks pretty stupid.
He's pretty fat and hairy. He wears only some dirty rags.

I wouldn't call him fat. He's just a little chubby.
If you look closely, you see his muscles. He must really be strong.

Not sure about the muscles.
But he also looks dangerous. His eyes are glowing and his body doesn't seem that stable.
You might not be able to control him.
They even put him into a cage!

Yeah, this means he must be very powerful.
But don't worry. I'm sure, this will be fun.

Roya gets scared. Fun doesn't mean safe...

Roya wants to stop Moyu.
This didn't seem like a well thought out choice to Moyu.
But Moyu already left to visit a supervisor.

After talking to a supervisor, Moyu notices Ryuka standing around.

Hey!

Oh, it's you! Look! They are already preparing the demons!
They just took mine out of the room.

Cool. They are fast.

So did you already choose one?

Yeah.

And which one?

It will be a surprise.

Moyu smirks at Ryuka.

Ryuka already expects the worst.
Surprises by Moyu never have been a good sign.

Moyu watches as they carefully take her demon out of the case, as the last pupils are choosing their demons.

Soon the first pupils should already get their demons.
Everyone is excited.
